A serious and fun game
Ketchum Brussels asked us to design a board game for all employees of biotechnology company Galapagos and their families. Normally, the company organises a joint Christmas activity, but during the pandemic this needed to take place remotely. Employees received the game to play at home instead.
We developed a completely new board game centred on the development of a new medicine. We worked in close consultation with Galapagos' experts to ensure the scientific content was accurate yet accessible. The gameplay incorporates elements such as targets, laboratories, and clinical tests. The design allows experts to explain their roles to colleagues and family members in an engaging way.
We produced 2,000 game kits, each containing specially designed cards, tokens, coins, a rulebook, and a custom box – all created in Galapagos' visual identity. The games were distributed to employees for home use. Reception was very positive, with many reporting that the format helped demystify their work for family members and sparked meaningful conversations about science.
